The exciting sport of basketball

Basketball is now one of the most popular sports on the entire planet. The difference between basketball and many of the other most popular sports is its relatively early origin. Basketball has a short history and it is a game founded on basketball curiosities by Dr. James Naismith.

Dr. Naismith was a Canadian physical education instructor. In 1891, I worked in Springfield, Massachusetts, with YMCA. A basketball test shows he invented the game by trying to find something that kept the youngsters in shape during the winter. Many other games were not suitable for indoor games or were not strenuous enough. Then connect Dr. Naismith peach curve to a three-meter-high handrail and created a game where points were scored by throwing a ball into the basket. That's how basketball was born.

Basketball trivia shows many interesting changes in the game over the years. The teams formed by five players per Page, was a relatively early change that occurred in 1897. An important innovation was the board, introduced in 1906, which opened the game with shots that sprang. Perhaps the most important change in the game itself came in the 1950s. That's when the basketballs (the soccer balls had originally been used) began to be manufactured in such a way that they ran smoothly and evenly. This was when the dribble became part of the game.

A basketball test shows that the game has undergone several developments to reach its current professional structure. The first professional league had already been established in 1898, though it would only last a few years. Two leagues, BAA (founded in 1946) and NBL, would merge in 1949 to create the NBA forum, the national basketball association. A new league, the American Basketball Association, began in 1967, but would eventually merge with the NBA to leave the NBA in its current form.

Basketball has become such a popular professional sport mainly because of some of its most famous players. Previous examples of these stars include players like Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul Jabar. You could say that Magic Johnson and Larry Bird represent the next generation of star players. For now, players like Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant and Lebron James keep the game exciting for fans. The most famous basketball player of all time is undoubtedly Michael Jordan, and he must also be greatly honored for the game's growing popularity.
