University basketball and professional league

Since its inception in the early twentieth century, people have enjoyed playing basketball. In fact, professional and college basketball in the United States has gained many supporters across the country. Now, with the huge popularity of the NBA forum and its superstars, many students are looking to get noticed in the tests, play on college teams and maybe even in the NBA. High school students with in-game talent have the opportunity to continue their education by participating in sports scholarships where, in return for playing in college teams, they receive an academic scholarship and other financial aid during their stay at that school.

American universities began playing the game between 1893 and 1895. The first college games were held at Madison Square Garden in 1934, and then college basketball began to attract great interest. In the 1950s, basketball had become an important university sport, thus paving the way for a greater interest in professional sports.

The National Basketball League was the first professional league in the game. It was formed in 1898 to protect players from exploitation and to promote safety rules for the game. However, NBL lasted only five years, and in its wake several small organized leagues were formed (and dissolved) throughout the northeastern United States. One of the first and best professional teams was the Original Celtics, formed in 1915 in New York City. They participated in as many matches as 150 pr. Season and was the first basketball team until 1936. Founded in 1927, the Harlem Globetrotters is an exhibition team that focuses on stylized tricks in ball handling.

In 1949, two professional leagues, the National Basketball League (formed in 1937) and the Basketball Association of America (formed in 1946) merged to create the National Basketball Association (NBA). The NBA is now considered the premier basketball league in the United States and is also known worldwide.

The internet has proven to be a useful place for students interested in college basketball as well as for coaches involved in the sports scholarship recruiting process. There are many websites and online forums where students and explorers can participate and interact. D1Athletes is an online community where high school athletes and coaches can share and exchange information they need in their search for sports scholarships.
