Do you need something printed on a T-shirt?

And everyone else in the world! You may not have noticed until now, but there are many T-shirts in the world today and almost all have some kind of print, but where do they come from? Obviously we can all get a print shirt at the mall or department store, but where do print shops get their shirts and where can someone like me get print shirts for an event, activity, club or organization? All the information you need on how to print your shirt is here! We will guide you through the conception of an idea, design, placement on the shirt and selection of a screen printer.

Conception of a T-shirt printing idea
Before you do something, you must decide what you need the shirts for. This may sound silly because you obviously have an idea of why you need t-shirts or you wouldn't be reading this article! However, this decision may affect whether you can skip some steps in the process. For example: If you are a Cub Scout pack leader and need shirts to distribute to members and you are not making any profit on the shirts, you should have at least one idea for a printed Need You Shirt design. However, if you are a softball coach looking to earn money to pay for your team's uniforms, you might opt for a screen printer apparel fundraising program (which many screen printers offer).
Fundraising programs allow the customer (you) to give the screen printer a general idea of what they would like to see in the design of a print (or prints) and what types of garments they would like to see offered. This type of program puts the burden of design on the screen printer and prevents you from getting too involved in the details. In many cases, screen printers provide the necessary flyers and order forms for sellers, so all you have to do is distribute them and make a profit. Be sure to ask the printer to select about these programs, as they may not advertise specifically.

T-shirt design
Now that we know what we are printing the shirts for, we are ready to design the printing of the shirts. There are two options when considering your shirt design:
The screen printer can design your artwork.
You can design your artwork.

While you can choose the first option, it's still important to be informed about your shirt design for a couple of reasons:
-Screen printers may charge you for designing the artwork.
-You can't print anything, there are some limitations.
-You must decide what design elements you want your artwork to have (destroyed, contemporary, traditional / conservative, classic look).
-You must decide where you want the designs to be printed on the shirt.

First of all, when designing the artwork for your shirts, you will have to decide on the basics:

-What is the main message I want to convey with my shirts?
Do I simply want to put a logo on my Gym T-Shirts to identify group members with my organization or am I not looking to advertise a company, organization, etc.?

-Do I need to include details?

Should I include a date for the event, a business phone number, a troop or package number?
This is an important question: As a screen printer, I constantly have to ask companies if they want their phone number and address included on their shirts; some companies do not include this information, but almost always do.

-What kind of design elements or theme do you want to use?
-You should know if your shirts need a more conservative look (for companies generally), a contemporary look (for gangs, youth organizations), a classic look (high schools and universities generally fall into this category), just for name a few.

-You must choose a graphic to wear on your shirts (if applicable). It is often a good idea to look at what your screen printer has to offer, as they can more easily provide a higher quality image. Many screen printers have talented in-house graphic designers or have a membership in an artwork club where they can download graphics from the Internet for a discounted fee.
